What Is a Sound Journey?

A Sound Journey cannot be easily explained with words, because it is not a linear or rational experience. Perhaps the most accurate word is: a journey.

It is not a concert, although there is music. It is not a meditation, although you sink into altered states. It is not even a performance, because there is no true audience. Each person in the room is an integral part of the experience.

It is a shamanic journey, initiated, in the oldest sense, by the extraordinary, consciousness-altering magic of sound. With over 30 years of exploration, Nixiwaka blends sound healing from physical, energetic, and spiritual perspectives, guided by teachers from various cultures across the world.

Nixiwaka, the drum as a tool for transformation

To de-imprint, unwind, and let go.

The Sound Journey differs from listening to music in that the purpose is not to imprint but to de-imprint. To unwind, let go, and be totally in the moment with the vibration of the sounds. To have the brain trigger the deepest chemicals of ease, harmony, joy, and bliss.

The didgeridoo (yidaki), shaman drum, and rattles are the core tools. These are not instruments of performance. They are instruments of transformation, honoured in the oldest traditions of shamanic healing across cultures.

What It Is and Is Not
Not quite
A concert
But there is music

Live sound fills the space, but the intention is not performance. There is no audience. Every person present is part of what is created.

Not quite
A meditation
But you go deep

Altered states arise naturally through sound. The vibration does the work. No technique is required, only a willingness to let go.

Not quite
A ceremony
But it is sacred

Participating in a Sound Journey is an intimate adventure into our spiritual reality. We gently weave a web of connections between all those present.

Buddha and singing bowl

“Diving deep into the beauty inside, we tap into our basic physiology, connecting body, mind, and spirit.”

“It is healing that occurs on the deepest levels. An emotional, spiritual letting go.”
Spirit Valley drum

“The didgeridoo, shaman drum, and rattles, core tools for transformation.”

The Instruments
Didgeridoo (Yidaki)

The primary instrument. Its resonant, continuous drone creates the deepest shift in consciousness, working directly on the body’s nervous system.

Shaman Drum

The heartbeat of the journey. The drum holds the rhythm of the earth and guides participants into trance states of deep release and clarity.

Rattles & Voice

Used to move energy, clear the space, and call in prayer. The voice is an instrument of its own, weaving songs and intentions through the room.
